About Thames Vet

Meet the team

Douglas Dick, MRCVS

Practice Owner and Veterinary Surgeon

Welcome to our brand new veterinary clinic in Ham.

I grew up only a mile down the road from Ham and for my wife and I, it feels very much like home. I was fortunate enough to study veterinary medicine at The Royal Veterinary College in London and following my graduation, I worked in small animal practice in the East Midlands. After a number of years working in Robin Hood Country I returned back to the Borough of Richmond to practice locally.  It has always been my lifetime dream to set up my own vet practice so that I can serve and be a part of our local community. I’m so excited about running my own independent practice where I will make it my responsibility to look after my team, our clients and their cherished pets.

At Thames Vet, we’re a family vets, which means that you’ll see the same friendly faces each time you visit. We will always greet you with compassion and kindness and always do our best for you and your pet. Team work is central to what we do at Thames Vet and I am truly convinced that our dedicated team who love their job will provide the best possible care for you and your fantastic pets.

Jenni

Registered Veterinary Nurse (RVN)

Hi, I’m Jenni. I am the RVN here at Thames Vet. I have been in the veterinary world for over 15 years and qualified for over 10. I have a particular interest in anaesthesia and have worked with Doug the vet for many years. I have been at Thames Vet from the day we first opened our doors in June 2023.
I have lived locally all my life, with my own many animals including cats, dogs and rabbits to keep me busy. In my spare time I like going to live music events, watching rugby and spending time with my family.

Hayley

Veterinary Care Assistant (VCA)

Hi! I’m Hayley. I am the Veterinary Care Assistant here at Thames Vet.
I worked in education for nearly 20 years and decided to take the leap into veterinary practice and I’ve not looked back. I’ve always had dogs and my current dog, Pepper, is a diabetic so I understand the challenges that come with looking after a sick pet and making sure they are cared for.
I have lived in the Kingston area all my life and am married with two grown children. I love collecting books and attempting to read them all whilst still buying more books. I’m an avid Harry Potter fan and all things rainbows.

Pippa

Client Care

I’m Pippa, and I’m responsible for Client Care here at Thames Vet. You’ll find me working front of house, cuddling your lovely pets, and ensuring that you and your pets have the best possible experience when visiting us. I’m a fountain of random knowledge and also the chief practice cake maker. I’ve worked here at Thames Vet since before we even opened our doors.

My background is in social work, child protection, working with and supporting vulnerable families. After working in that sector for over 10 years I wanted a new venture, so joined the veterinary profession in 2020.
Having a family member who is a RVN and having several pets myself from dogs and cat to chickens and rabbits, I have always been surrounded by animals and gained varied knowledge of pets. I have a big love for all creatures big and small. I love nothing better than helping behind the scenes in the practice and giving lots of love and cuddles to the inpatients, staff and clients a like to if they need it!
I am married to an American and live in Surrey with all my different furbabies. I am at Thames vet every day and always welcome any animals that want to pop in for a cuddle and a treat.

Biscuit

Head of Tail Wagging

I’m Biscuit, a very ‘happy to see you’ Springer Spaniel (I belong to Doug and his wife Orla). I love going on walks along the river and around Richmond Park. My favourite thing is to get as dirty as I can in puddles, run round like crazy and then fall fast asleep. If you’re out and about on walks, I look forward to meeting you.
